This image is the previously mentioned pre-visualised photograph that was pipped at the publishing post by the macro rope photograph.

I took my drone out today intending to photograph something from above. When I saw this windmill, I know that was what I wanted. The drone was probably around 2 meters from the subject, close enough in the light winds as I was comfortable taking it. Whilst no match for the 45 megapixels of the D850, the drone’s camera doesn’t do a bad job at all.

  1. I’ve been thinking about buying a drone myself. The biggest showstopper for me is the number of restricted zones over here in Germany.
