Macro photograph of a red insect on a deep green leaf

Hello!

I took the D850 and my Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro lens for a walk whilst on a government-approved exercise session last weekend when I came across this little fella. He was very patient with me as I sat down, manually focussed, and figured out what aperture I would need to at least get his head in focus as well as the rest of the exposure to support the determined aperture of f/22!

Although a massive fan of black and white photography, I had to publish this photograph in colour. The green against the red is beautiful and I’ve managed to catch enough of the insect’s head in focus to be a successful image in my eyes. The only macro photograph I usually take in my professional work is those of engagement rings. I’m very excited to be able to flex the macro muscles a little more.

That’s it for now. Talk to you soon.

Richard
