Happy Halloween!
At least it is at the time of writing this, my 100th post!
The photograph features all the cameras I have used in the past 99 posts. I had to borrow M’s D750 to take today’s photo and after getting everything set framed and exposed I enlisted her to be my “VAS”. For the uninitiated, that’s my Voice Activated Shutter.
From left to right (because I know you are all just dying to know) is my Z6 #1, Z6 #2, Mavic Mini drone, D810, D850 and my iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
So, 100 posts in 100 days. Forgive me for feeling a little bit chuffed about and please forgive me if I get a bit nostalgic for a minute.
I created this blog for a couple of reasons, the first being to reinvigorate my love of photographing for myself. As a working photographer, it’s very easy to get hung up on only pleasing your clients and especially to not even pick up a camera when you are not being paid for it. By allowing myself to enjoy the act of photographing, I’ve been able to post a continual stream to this blog. I hope you’ll both understand and forgive me when I say that the photographs have not been taken with the intent of pleasing readers, but if they have, I’m thrilled.
The second reason for this blog was to have a working project I could complete whilst locked down, giving myself something to aim for each day. Now that we are heading out of lockdown I have a difficult decision to make regarding the daily publishing frequency especially now as I am back at the office four days per week.
Would I be better dropping it back to two or three posts per week or even every second day, or should I try to barrel on? I’m even considering dropping the schedule to when I have something to say or a particular photograph I’d like to share. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Thank you to everyone who has read a post, a couple of posts and all the way to those who read the blog every day. It certainly helps me to post when I know people are actually reading it. Thank you for the comments both on and offline.
The most popular post according to my statistics is post #21 all the way back on August 13, the one where I shared my award-winning image of Batman with a beard. This first-time entry into an award and accreditation program produced better than expected results.
It’s safe to say the post that caused the most communication was post #75 on October 6. My opening up on how my speech impediment affects my life and interactions provided much feedback via comments, Facebook comments, phone calls, in-person chats and messages.
A big thank you to those who have joined the Facebook group for the blog. There are currently 25 members (more than I thought I would get) and it has led to some conversations on posts that I love. I post a link to each new post via this group so as not to flood my friends Facebook feed with blog posts. I’m still posting to my regular wall every milestone or important post, but if you would like to read more, please consider joining the Facebook group.
Big ups must go to M and R for putting up with me photographing them (and publishing photos of them with hair towels on) and my regular disappearances into the study to write my next blog post. Miss R has been a regular subject in the photos mainly due to her accessibility. Now that I can point my camera at more people, her appearances will not be so regular.
Looking back, I think the thing I’m most happy about is the evolution of my black and white editing. I’m really liking how my black and white photos are shaping up, especially from the D810 and D850.
I’m reading back through all 99 previous posts and I’ve extracted the highlights for you:

To finish up, I’m proud of the content I’ve put out and that people are reading it on a regular basis and I’d like to leave you with my two most often used sayings from the blog:
Number one: Thank you for your time and attention. These are the two most important things you have and I very much appreciate you sharing yours with me.
Number two: Be it a big DSLR or a phone, the best camera is the one you have on you when you need it.
Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the next video.
Richard
