Hello!
As you can see, this is not a photograph from the wedding I photographed yesterday!
Publishing a black and white photograph every day in 2022 along with the text is a challenge (and we are only up to day 23). With this in mind, I am planning ahead as far as I can and this post was actually written on Friday 21st and scheduled for Sunday the 23rd. You’ve got to love technology. I have no doubt that after I have looked through the wedding photographs, some will appear here with a quick description of the day.
But anyway, back to the Australian Open for today’s photo. With the 70-200 lens back on the camera, this allowed me to get right in without being physically too close to the subjects. The black and white processing allows the ball to feature without having to be the very luminous shade of green that they are.
I’ve always found black and white photography to be more intimate and consider this is a good example of that. In colour, it’s literally just a picture of a tennis player signing a big ball. In black & white, it’s more of a moment.
Have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.
