The Average Suburban Dad

My self-assigned spot of the internet where I wax lyrical about ... err ... stuff.

Hello!

Entry number 26 for the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is a photograph of a flower, not looking its best but otherwise standing proud!

I figured this was a good indication of the current weather we are having here in my neck of the woods. It’s a little warm you could say.

As I gracefully age, I’ve found that I’m not as resilient to the heat as I used to be. I still prefer hot weather over cold any day of the week, but when it gets around 34 degrees (celsius) I’m not as likely to go running outside basking in the heat as I used to be.

It’s Australia Day here in Australia and therefore a public holiday. I refuse to go into whether we should even celebrate this day or not as I like having a public holiday and will enjoy it for as long as it remains a public holiday. My thoughts on the actual reason for the holiday have not progressed past “It’s a day off work” and I make no apologies for that. If you have deep-seated thoughts on the matter then that’s great and I respect you and your right to have those thoughts. But, please leave them off my self-assigned space on the internet.

Yes, I can be that shallow.

I’m back on the “I need to sort some of my shit out” bandwagon as I’m not totally thrilled at my life’s current trajectory. To quote Alexander Hamilton (from the musical Hamilton, I’m not sure if Hamilton himself actually said this), “There’s a million things I haven’t done, but just you wait.” I have many ideas of things I would like to do, but things like work keep getting in the way.

One of those things was triggered by the 2022 365 Black and White Challenge. I would love to have a photography brand that just shoots in black and white. I reckon I would get about one client a year but by golly-gee-wonkers, how much would I like that shoot? And how much would it cost me to maintain a website for a year? I can tell you, with the hosting package I have, no additional cost at all. The problem is marketing the damn thing. I can already hear my wife shaking her head and rolling her eyes. Insert smiley face emoji here.

There are many other ideas I have but I’ll keep those to myself for now.

Whatever your views are on the public holiday, have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.

Richard

Thanks, as always for your time and attention, I really appreciate it.
