Hello!

Entry number 117 for the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is a photo from a recent Daddy-daughter date.

2022 365 Black & White Challenge – 117/365

Tuesday

The drive into my new office was absolute bliss. Finally being able to leave the house made the hour commute so much more palatable.

My first day in the office for my new job was the expected mix of excitement and overwhelm. So much information is being thrown at you at the one time along with the regular chorus of “We’ll leave that for later as we don’t want to overwhelm you”. I had a great day though. It’s nice to finally feel a part of the team and to set the computer and office up, ready to contribute. I do need to buy a metric crap tonne of hand sanitiser though as I’m using a PC, instead of my beloved Mac.

Leaving extra early I managed to sample the coffee from the two nearest cafés to ascertain who will receive my custom going forward. And the winner is the café with the long walk, but that works fine for me. Being in a sedentary position most of the day, I don’t mind doing a brisk walk in the morning for coffee.

The closer café, unfortunately, did not do a good job with my ham and cheese sandwiches but may be saved by the fact they have a range of delicious-looking pizzas available.

As expected, the day was a series of meetings with various people learning what they do and what involvement I will have with them. I did get the chance to sink myself into some work in the afternoon which was fun as my brain was sending signs of not wanting to absorb that more information from the day.

Let me interrupt the flow to bring you a message from our sponsor, Me! Did you love the photo? Each photograph in the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is made available as a single signed limited edition print. If you are interested, you can purchase the print at the Shop for only $36.50 (including free postage to anywhere in the world). If it’s not there then someone beat you to it! I thank you for your support of my photography and this website.

We run attendance and leave management from an online tool which seems to be a very effective way of running things. I had to meet with the finance manager to go over my schedule. I work from home on Wednesdays and complete the school runs to ensure my wife can make her weekly pilgrimage to her office. Because of this, I load up the other days of the week to ensure I only need to work five hours on a Wednesday. I am ridiculously excited about having easy access to my accrued annual leave balance on demand though. This has been something that has not been easy since I left my last big company around seven years ago.

I finally got home around 6:30 pm. After leaving home at 7 am, it was a long day.

The night consisted of watching a catchup episode of Lego Masters on the couch together. Seriously, that show is the nicest show on TV. There’s no bitching about the other players and people are genuinely sad to see contestants leave. The host, Brickman (surprisingly, not his real name) is prone to visibly chocking up when eliminating teams from the show.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time and your attention! I will see tomorrow you for the next post.

Richard
