Hello!

Entry number 113 for the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is a photo from my home.

Toilet roll art
2022 365 Black & White Challenge – 114/365

I saw this in the house and loved how the light was hitting the toilet paper. Unless I am out at a shoot, one of my four cameras is always sitting on my desk in case inspiration strikes.

Saturday

We have a house cleaner who comes once every two weeks. I always enjoy walking into the house after a “Zoe” day.

Starting towards the end of last year, Zoe has been leaving us with a selection of toilet paper art and some of it is pure genius. For a while, I’ve had a collection of it saved on the window sill. Christmas had reindeer. Valentine’s day left us with a heart and she does a mean flower, including the stem.

It’s the little things like this factored in with being able to see the dining room table that makes “Zoe” day a highlight of the fortnight.

If my income was a lot more than it is now I’d be hiring Zoe three times per week!

Let me interrupt the flow to bring you a message from our sponsor, Me! Did you love the photo? Each photograph in the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is made available as a single signed limited edition print. If you are interested, you can purchase the print at the Shop for only $36.50 (including free postage to anywhere in the world). If it’s not there then someone beat you to it! I thank you for your support of my photography and this website.

The worst part is trying to maintain the house for as long as we can before “Cyclone Child” strikes or before our schedules get in the way of tidying up. You can pretty much tell the mental state of the household by the condition of the lounge room. It’s something I’m working on but most of my battles occur in the kitchen, trying to return it to the immaculate state Zoe leaves it in each day quickly becomes too difficult and we then start the spiral of despair.

It’s something I’m trying to work on. Whilst the wife was at her roller derby tournament (they won, yay!), I hit the kitchen and the laundry to get as many things through the various large appliances as possible. I’ve made a dent which I’m happy about, but I need to lie down for a bit now.

Overall, my health is nearly back to normal. I’ve lost 2.5 kg (and I’m not looking too hard to find it) and my sense of smell is showing very faint signs of returning. My cough has mostly gone and my mental state is much better. If it wasn’t for the required isolation, I would have happily shot from 9 am until 7 pm today. It was very hard and upsetting watching the live stream and not being there.

I did manage to communicate with the organiser and head referee that there was a photographer shooting from prohibited areas on the track and get them moved along so my impact as “tournament photographer” was still felt.

I’m finishing this post and then retiring for the night although it is only 7:30 pm. I was awake at three in my attempt to ensure my wife did not miss her very early alarm on this, a most important day for her.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time and your attention! I will see tomorrow you for the next post.

Richard
