Hello!
Entry number 66 for the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is a photograph from a photoshoot with a superb musical duo.

The PHOTOGRAPH:
This is Andrew. Andrew doesn’t like photographs of himself. Andrew likes this photograph. So do I. Sometimes during a portrait shoot, you really need to slow down to allow some magic to happen. I do believe, this is magic.
PS: Did you love the photo? Each photograph in the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is made available as a single signed limited edition print. If you are interested, click here to purchase this print for only $36.50. I thank you for your support of my photography and this website.
The BLOG:
I’ve been let down once too often.
I’ve been using Adobe Lightroom to manage my photographs and shoots since Public Beta #1 way back on Jan. 9, 2006. That’s 16 years, 1 month and 25 days of my life dedicated to one piece of software. 5900 days! I’ll conservatively estimate I’ve opened you on 75% of those days. That’s 4425 days of use.
But lately, Lightroom has been letting many people down, not just me. My wife has had to contact Adobe support a couple of times in the last few weeks when her catalogue files (the glue that holds everything together) have been falling apart.
I’ve lost my “ASD” catalogue, the catalogue that holds all the files published (and to be published) on this website. Luckily I export a full-size version of each photograph and store those in my online backup.
I’ve also lost a wedding catalogue meaning I’m going back to the start of the wedding that’s due in two weeks.
Yes, I have backups. And yes, Lightroom is corrupting those too.
I’ve paid for a subscription to Capture 1 Pro, a Lightroom alternative I’ve been hearing good things about. At first, I’m a little slow in it as things are in different spaces and the keyboard shortcuts are different, but it’s infinitesimally more configurable than Lightroom.
We’ll just have to see how this relationship pans out. Lightroom, you once desired me to work with you as often as possible. Now I feel like we are an old married couple. Whenever I’m excited, you’re no longer interested. And that makes me sad.
I never thought I’d leave Lightroom. But I’ve just uninstalled you. I’m calling it a trial separation.
Thanks as always for reading. I really appreciate your time and attention. If you like what I and or/how I write and you have not already done so, please consider joining the Facebook Group.
Have a great day and I look forward to seeing you in the next post.
