Hello!
Entry number 74 for the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is a photograph from my home.

The PHOTOGRAPH:
What we have here is a stack of photo books or monographs. At this time, my collection is very small but it will grow. Just you wait!
As for the photo, I could have neatly stacked the books, but what’s the fun in that. I took a few photos, each time focussing on a different book and I liked this one the best. And yes, the bottom book has not been rescued from the delivery packing yet.
PS: Did you love the photo? Each photograph in the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is made available as a single signed limited edition print. If you are interested, click here to purchase this print for only $36.50. I thank you for your support of my photography and this website.
The BLOG:
I have a new obsession and I’m OK with it.
I’ve always said that “A photograph isn’t real until you can hold it” and I stand by it. I love seeing a photo in print. I love holding a matte containing a print even more. Over the years I’ve picked up the odd photo book here and there but lately, I’ve really grown to enjoy them. This really started when I was watching a YouTube video on the NYC ballet doing this photography thing. It was for a book which I looked up and thanks to an old Amazon voucher and Amazon Prime, the beautiful book was ordered and on my doorstep the next day. The photographs are stunning and the book is huge!
Lately, I’ve purchased the book from the head stills photographer for the entire series of Game of Thrones after seeing an interview with her on YouTube. Again, it’s a huge book with incredible images of the actors, sets, props and behind the scenes moments. Seriously stunning.
I’ve created a wishlist on Booktopia and have dropped hints to my wife that I would like anything from the list for my birthday in June. This is probably a relief as my normal requests are slightly more expensive. If any of my family are reading this and are planning on something for my birthday (or anyone reading at all!) the list can be found here. This is a shortlist of a few of my favourite photographers.
The photo is all my current books (which I’m adding to at around one new one per month) and includes one on the bottom I haven’t even opened yet as I’m still reading The Real Deal, the latest phenomenal book from Joe McNally, a man I’ve greatly admired (and met) for over a decade.
If you have any interest in photography at all, I encourage you to start looking at photo books or monographs. I can’t wait to get my hands on as many as I can find.
But my one takeaway for today’s blog is to print your photos! We all have hard drives or USB drives filled with photos we’ll most likely never look at it again. I’m determined to print more myself.
From top to bottom: The Real Deal – Joe McNally; Annie Leibovitz at Work – Annie Leibovitz; The Moment It Clicks – Joe McNally; The Hot Shoe Diaries – Joe McNally; The Art Of Movement – Ken Bower & Deborah Ory; Hamilton, Portraits Of The Revolution – Josh Lehrer; The Photography Of Game Of Thrones – Helen Slone; 50 Portraits – Gregory Heisler; Music – Andrew Zuckerman & (as yet unopened) Linda McCartney. Life in Photographs – Annie Leibovitz, Martin Harrison & Linda McCartney.
Thanks as always for reading. I really appreciate your time and attention. If you like what I and or/how I write and you have not already done so, please consider joining the Facebook Group.
