Entry number 75 for the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is a photograph from a walk around the Frankston foreshore.
Light. You’ve just got to love good light.
A podcast I listen to had a catchphrase around 15 years ago that has stuck with me all this time. It is simple and gives away the secret to successful portrait photography:
“Find the light and put ’em in it.”
Although this photograph is not a portrait, when it comes to it, after all these years, all I’m looking for is nice light.
PS: Did you love the photo? Each photograph in the 2022 365 Black & White Challenge is made available as a single signed limited edition print. If you are interested, click here to purchase this print for only $36.50. I thank you for your support of my photography and this website.
Monday night’s public holiday lack of traffic (at least where I was), had me arriving at the factory where our band practices nearly an hour early. I couldn’t be bothered going through the routine of moving everything out of the way of the door and climbing over engine parts (The band room is in the rear half of a factory shared with a motorsports business) to get in, so I decided to take my camera for a quick walk through the industrial area. I’m sure a couple of the images I took will eventually make it here to the website, but the biggest takeaway for me was the enforced relaxation of casually strolling through an area, camera and 50mm lens in hand, taking photographs of random things that caught my eye.
I really need to do that more.
