Nature study

Howzit!

It is a rare occasion when I am required to photograph nature for a paying client. I’m not a gardener by any stretch of the imagination and yet give me a lens with a shallow depth of field and a flower, bush, shrubbery or other elements of nature and I am transfixed by the photographic possibilities.

Recently I discovered a new (for me) photography YouTube channel. This channel is single-handedly responsibly for both my reinvigoration of taking photos for myself and for this website. In YouTube terms, it’s a relatively new channel only being around nine months old at the time of writing, but when I discovered it, I binged every video and even commented on a few (which I generally never do). Alex, the host of The Photographic Eye channel is the one who gave me permission to be an amateur photographer again. To go out and take photographs that only had to please me. To go out and enjoy the process of finding and capturing photographs again. And for that, I will be eternally grateful.

If you ever read this Alex, I thank you. And the welcome at the top of the blog was in your honour.

In local news, lockdown restrictions are easing here in Victoria, Australia. it means I’m back in the office on Thursday. Which is a bummer because my new camera is scheduled to arrive, on Thursday. I’ll have to wait before I can take it out as it is dark when I leave for work and dark when I return.

Thanks for visiting and cheers for now!
