The Average Suburban Dad

My self-assigned spot of the internet where I wax lyrical about ... err ... stuff.

Last Friday was a pretty good day, for two reasons.

Firstly, it was my wife's birthday. I could go on about how amazing and hot she is, but I need to start work in ten minutes, so for the sake of brevity, just know that she is amazing and hot.

Secondly, I built an app I've wanted to for a long time.

I've been a big fan of the Bullet Journal method since introduced to it by a long time friend many years ago. A great shorthand method of journaling what has happened alongside what you need to do. They call it "rapid logging".

I normally start a new one every year and can last a month before something happens and I just can't keep it up.

Friday morning, I was driving into work and thoughts around how I would build an online version kept pushing themselves to the front of my brain. For ages, I've wanted to build one and my coding muscles have been put to work at the new job where I have developed an online website task system including requests and approvals.

So, in between other tasks, I started to flesh out this new idea.

By the end of the day, with ten minutes here and there I had the frame in place, the domain registered and the entries beginning to be ... entered.

Over the weekend I added more features and although only on day four, I love it for the ease of writing down things we've done (to look back on in the future), things that are happening as well as a surprisingly large todo list.

Now that my wife's birthday has past, there's just over a handful of days left until the jolly guy does his rounds. May they pass calmly for you.

Thanks, as always for your time and attention, I really appreciate it.
